21 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
 
The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:
1. Chair Wm. F. Bell, on behalf of the Transportation and Works Committee, introduced and extended a welcome to Bruce Macgregor, Commissioner of Transportation and Works. Mr. Macgregor has been hired to replace Kees Schipper, who is retiring in September after almost 11 years as Commissioner of Transportation and Works. Mr. Macgregor was formerly employed by the Region as Capital Projects Manager from 1991 until 1995 and as Director of Water and Wastewater until 2000. For the last five years, he has been Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works for the Town of Richmond Hill.
 
PRESENTATIONS
2. Bala Araniyasundaran, Director, Capital Delivery, Water and Wastewater, made a presentation entitled "York Durham Sewage System (YDSS) Interceptor Sewer Project Update". Received.
 
3. Paul Jankowski, General Manager, Roads, made a presentation regarding CN's Road Closure of Elgin Mills Road Crossing, East of Yonge Street to repair tracks on September 17 and 18, 2005. Received.

OTHER BUSINESS
7. Mayor M. Di Biase requested that Staff provide a report regarding the installation of traffic lights on Langstaff Road and Balding Boulevard at the entrance of National Estates Drive now that the construction on Langstaff Road is completed. Received and referred to Staff for report.
 
8. Mayor Wm. F. Bell submitted information relating to the sale of surplus land by the Region of York of property located at 8 Green Hollow Court in the Town of Markham. Received and referred to Staff.
 
The Transportation and Works Committee adjourned at 10:15 a.m.
