1. Liz Gibson, Deputy Clerk, Town of Newmarket, April 27, 2005, forwarding a resolution adopted by the Council of the Town of Newmarket at its meeting on April 11, 2005, regarding the National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure. Received.

 

2. Brian Denney, Chief Administrative Officer, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, May 5, 2005, regarding the 2005 Municipal levy. Received.

 

3. Chris Somerville, Clerk, Township of King, May 11, 2005, regarding the Ansnorveldt Water System Financing & Water System Charge Request for Approval of Debenture. Received and referred to the Commissioner of Finance for a report.

 

4. Mary Ellen Bench, City Solicitor, City of Mississauga, May 12, 2005 regarding the Attorney General's commitment to pending appointments of Justices of the Peace. The Committee determined to make these communications public. Received.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

5. Appointment of Acting Chair

The Committee appointed Mayor Tom Taylor as the Acting Chair for the purposes of this meeting, in the absence of the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

6. Regional Participation In Heritage Property Tax Relief Programs

The Committee Recommends That This Matter Be Reviewed By Committee And Council As A New Program During the 2006 Business Plan And Budget Considerations.  (Mayor Taylor declared an interest in this matter as his home is a heritage property and did not take part in the consideration or discussion of or vote on this matter.)

 

7. York Region Character Council Book Initiative

The communication, May 26, 2005 from Mayor Cousens (attached) requesting Council approval for the expenses relating to the proposed Character Council Book Initiative, was referred to the Commissioner of Finance for a report to the June 23, 2005 Council meeting.

 

 

The Finance and Administration Committee adjourned at 10:28 a.m.
