COMMUNICATIONS

 

Regional Development Charges By-law -Definition of Apartment Dwelling

 

1. Ms. Sheila Birrell, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, February 9, 2005, forwarding a resolution adopted by the Town of Markham at its meeting on February 8, 2005, regarding Financial Incentives for Affordable Housing - Request to the Region of York for Changes to the Regional Development Charges By-law Definition for an Apartment Dwelling. Referred to the Commissioner of Finance for a report to the Committee.

 

GTA Pooling

 

2. J. D. Leach, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, February 16, 2005, forwarding a resolution adopted by the Council of the City of Vaughan at its meeting on February 16, 2005, regarding Greater Toronto Area Pooling Social Services Costs.  Received.

 

3. Regional Councillor Joyce Frustaglio, Human Services Planning Coalition and Bill Hogarth, Director of Education, Human Services Planning Coalition, Co-Chair, February 23, 2005, regarding a resolution approved by the Human Services Planning Coalition at its meeting on February 16, 2005, re. GTA Pooling. Received.

 

4. Minute No. 19 adopted by the Council of The Regional Municipality of York at its meeting on February 17, 2005. Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

Capping of Property Tax Rates

 

5. As an item arising from the discussion of Clause 9 regarding the Federal Budget, the Committee requested the Commissioner of Finance to report to the Committee on the new Municipal Act regulations on the capping of property tax rates.

 

Business Plan and Budget Process

 

6. The Committee requested that the Commissioner of Finance report to the June 2005 meeting of the Committee on the process involved in preparing the 2005 Capital and Operating Business Plan and Budget for the purpose of examining whether the process can be streamlined in future years.

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

7. The Committee resolved into private session 10:44 a.m. to consider a legal matter and resumed in open session at 10:49 a.m. (see Clause 13, Availability of Justices of the Peace).

 

 

The Finance and Administration Committee adjourned its meeting at 10:50 a.m.
