17  UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
 
The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:
 
PRESENTATION
1.  Ian Buchanan, Manager of Natural Heritage and Forestry Services made a presentation regarding the recent infestation of the Asian Long-horned Beetle in the cities of Toronto and Vaughan and centred in the Woodbridge area. Committee received the presentation by Ian Buchanan, Manager of Natural Heritage and Forestry Services and requested that Staff bring forward a motion to the October 16, 2003 Regional Council meeting regarding the infestation of the Asian Long-horned Beetle.

2. J.D. Leach, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, September 12, 2003, regarding 'Proposed Region of York Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site'. Received and referred to Staff.
PRIVATE SESSION
3. Committee resolved into Private Session at 10:30 a.m. to discuss a legal matter, reconvened at 10:58 a.m. and passed the following resolution:
 
The Transportation and Works Committee recommends:
 
1. The contract for the construction of the York-Peel forcemain along Steeles Avenue between Highway 50 and the Peel Sewage System west of Airport Road, in the City of Brampton be awarded to Mardave Construction Limited in the amount of $16,215,683.08.
 
2. The Regional Solicitor be authorized to prepare the contract documents.
 
3. The Regional Chair and Clerk be authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the Region.
 
4. The Commissioner of Transportation and Works be authorized to disburse the funds as outlined.
The Transportation and Works Committee adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
