The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

1. David Atkins, Acting Director of Public Works, Town of Aurora, dated September 18, 2007, regarding 'Anti-train Whistle Update � 2007'.  Received and referred to staff.

 

2. Chair Fisch submitted a communication from Mayor Black, Township of King [2.7MB], dated September 28, 2007, regarding 'Highway #9 Traffic Increases Local Road Intersections'.  Received and referred to staff for a report in November or December.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

3. The Committee discussed concerns with the scheduling and notification process for EA public meetings.  As a practice, staff make every effort not to schedule EA public meetings on local municipal Council nights, and staff will review the scheduling and notification process in an attempt to reach a better solution.

 

4. Lloyd Russell, Commissioner of Finance, informed the Committee that both the operating and capital budgets are progressing as expected, and that the capital budget should be ready for presentation at the October 31, 2007 Transportation and Works Committee meeting.

 

5. The Committee questioned staff on the enforcement of the sign by-law during the current election.  Staff confirmed that they are implementing the identical procedures used during the last provincial election.
