The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:
 
DEPUTATION
1. Stan Daurio, Councillor, Ward 1, Town of Markham made a deputation regarding the installation of traffic signals at Royal Orchard Boulevard and Bayview Avenue.  Committee was also referred to a memorandum from Kees Schipper, Commissioner of Transportation and Works, dated June 10, 2004, forwarding Clause No. 19, Report 5 of the Transportation and Works Committee entitled 'Traffic Operational Assessment, Bayview Avenue at Royal Orchard Boulevard, Town of Markham'.  Committee received the deputation of Councillor Stan Daurio and memorandum of the Commissioner of Transportation and Works, referred the matter to Regional Staff to work with Town of Markham Staff to implement appropriate signage at this location, and report back to Committee after one year.

OTHER BUSINESS

10.   Committee was referred to a communication from Kees Schipper, Commissioner of Transportation and Works, dated June 10, 2004, forwarding Memorandum entitled 'Draft Resolutions Regarding the Environmental Assessment and Approvals Process'.  Committee received the memorandum and recommended that the following Draft Resolutions as contained therein be endorsed, subject to the following amendments:
 
(a)   Draft Resolution Regarding Environmental Assessment and Approvals Process:
Paragraph 4 be added as follows:
 
"Whereas York Region recognizes that the need for infrastructure projects is inherent in the Provincial approval of Official Plans; and"
 
Paragraph f) be replaced with the following:
 
"f)   recognize that the need for infrastructure projects is inherent in the Provincial approval of Official Plans; and"
(b)   Draft Association of Municipalities of Ontario Resolution Regarding Environmental Assessment and Approvals Process
Paragraph 4 be added as follows:
 
"Whereas it is recognized that the need for infrastructure projects is inherent in the Provincial approval of Official Plans; and"
11. Committee was referred to the following Extract containing Clause 10, Report 8, of Finance and Administration Committee, which was referred to the Transportation and Works Committee by Regional Council on June 10, 2004.  Committee recommended that the following matter be referred to June 24, 2004 Regional Council for consideration:
 
Clause No. 10 in Report No. 8 of the Finance and Administration Committee -
 
PRIVATE SESSION
12. Committee resolved into Private Session at 11:10 a.m. to consider legal matters and resumed at 11:39 a.m. with no report.
