The Transit Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transit Committee with the following action:

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

1. Monthly Ridership Statistics.  Received.

(The monthly ridership statistics were included as an attachment in the agenda for the October 16, 2008 Committee meeting).

 

2. Regional Chair Fisch and Regional Councillor Frustaglio, Chair of Transit Committee, expressed their thanks and gratitude, on behalf of the Region and Committee, to Don Gordon and the staff of York Region Transit for their tremendous efforts to ensure the citizens of York Region were impacted as minimally as possible during the recent Viva Rapid Transit strike.

 

Don Gordon, General Manager, York Region Transit recognized all of the York Region Transit staff for their efforts and hard work during the recent Viva strike, and specifically acknowledged the efforts and contributions of Ann Marie Carroll, Rick Takagi and Angelo Apfelbaum. Don also acknowledged and thanked staff from Legal Services and Corporate Communications for their support and assistance.  Likewise he thanked staff from the Roads Branch who acted as picket line monitors during the strike.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

The Committee resolved into private session at 12:03 p.m. to consider the following:

 

3.  Private Report of the Commissioner of Transportation Services � York Region Transit � Operations and Maintenance Contract Strategy � Security of Municipal Property.

 

The Committee resumed in public session at 12:10 p.m. with no report out.  Its recommendation on the above matter will be forwarded to Council for consideration at its October 23, 2008 Private Session.

 

The Transit Committee adjourned at 12:12 p.m.
