72 Persechini Easter Seals Run/Walkathon �
Bruno Tomberi, Corporate representative on the Persechini Easter Seals Run/Walkathon Executive Committee, made a presentation on the upcoming Run/Walkathon. He was accompanied by Joe Persechini, founder of the event, Shannon Ketelaars, Run Manager, Police Chief Armand P. La Barge and Paul Mariari, Ambassador for the Easter Seals campaign. The event will be held on

Regional Chair Fisch presented an Ontario Safety League 2005 Public Service Commendation award to staff of York Region Police and the Transportation and Works Department in recognition of the "Save A Life Program."
York Regional Police were represented by Police Chief La Barge, Deputy Chief Eric Jolliffe, Staff Sergeant Tom Carrique, Superintendent John Girvan and Inspector Craig Rogers. The Transportation and Works Department was represented by Brian Harrison, Zoran Postic, Nelson Costa, Mike Holme, Duane Carson and Calvin Montweb.
74 Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) CH2M HILL Sustainable Community Award
Regional Councillor Hogg representing the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, assisted by Ralph Davidson, Vice-President of CH2M HILL, presented Regional Chair Fisch with a Sustainable Community Award for the Region's excellence and innovation in municipal services. The Region recently won the award for its Energy and Environment Management System that tracks energy consumption and expenses in municipal facilities and operations.
75 National Public Works Week
Regional Chair Fisch presented awards to the winners of the "Design-a-Button" contest held by the Transportation and Works Department in conjunction with the National Public Works Week theme "Public Works is Everywhere You Look". The winners were Zoe Williams of the Town of

Regional Chair Fisch presented 10 year Service Recognition Awards to Mayor Black, Mayor Cousens, Mayor Jones, Mayor Taylor and Regional Councillor Frustaglio in recognition of their dedication and service to the Region since
Mayor Bell presented a 10 year Service Award to Regional Chair Fisch who also joined Regional Council at the same time as a Regional Councillor and became Regional Chair in 1997.

It was moved by Regional Councillor Heath, seconded by Mayor Young, that the reports be received and that Council resolve itself into Committee of the Whole to consider them.

The Committee of the Whole rose after making the following recommendations:
Report No. 4 of the Community Services and Housing Committee be adopted, without amendment;
Report No. 5 of the Finance and Administration Committee be adopted with the following amendment:
Clause 1 be amended to provide that Clause 1 of e-Government Sub-Committee Report No. 3, relating to the Information Technology Strategy, be endorsed.
Clause 12, Item 1, relating to Financial Incentives for Affordable Housing, also be referred to the Community Services and Housing Committee.
Report No. 4 of the Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee be adopted without amendment;
Report No. 5 of the Planning and Economic Development Committee be adopted without amendment;
Report No. 4 of the Solid Waste Management Committee be adopted with the following amendment:
Recommendation 2 in Clause 2, relating to the Blue Box Expansion, be amended to provide that the Commissioner of Transportation and Works also provide an interim status report to the October 2005 Committee meeting.
Report No. 5 of the Transit Committee be adopted without amendment;
Report No. 5 of the Transportation and Works Committee be adopted without amendment;
Report No. 1 of the Commissioner of Community Services and Housing be adopted without amendment;
Report No. 2 of the Commissioner of Transportation and Works and the Regional Solicitor be referred to the Private Session of this meeting (see Minute No. 89.)
It was moved by Regional Councillor Wheeler, seconded by Regional Councillor Scarpitti, that Council adopt the recommendations of the Committee of the Whole.
