The Transportation Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation Services Committee with the following action:

1. TRANSFER OF NASHVILLE ROAD FROM THE REGION TO THE CITY OF VAUGHAN       

The Transportation Services Committee recommends:

1. Receipt of the deputation by Paul Mantella, President, Nashville Area Ratepayers Association;

2. Receipt of the deputation by Ken Schwenger, Chair, Kleinburg Area Ratepayers Association;

3. Receipt of the communication from H. Barons, Resident, Kleinburg, dated June 9, 2010;

4. Receipt of the communication from Jeffrey A. Abrams, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, dated May 10, 2010, regarding 'Transfer of Nashville Road from Region to the City of Vaughan'; and

5. Referral of the deputations and communications to staff with direction that Transportation Services staff forward a report to Regional Council on June 24, 2010 that outlines the implications of the requested transfer and the current status of the Major Mackenzie Drive connection.

2. INSTALLATION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF GEORGE KIRBY AND BATHURST STREET,     CITY OF VAUGHAN

            The Transportation Services Committee recommends:

1. Receipt of the deputation by Ronald Richards, R.G. Richards & Associates;

2. Receipt of the communication from Jeffrey A. Abrams, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, dated May 25, 2010, regarding 'Deputation � Mr. Ron Richards with Respect to Installing a Traffic Signal at the Intersection of George Kirby Street and Bathurst Street'; and

3. Referral of the deputation and communication to staff with direction that Transportation Services staff work with the developer and proceed with the installation of the signal, at the developer's cost, if all requirements of the Region's Traffic Signal Warrants policy are met.

COMMUNICATIONS

3. Chris Somerville, Clerk, Township of King, dated April 30, 2010, regarding 'Mobility Plus Policy'.  Received and referred to staff as well as the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

4. John Bolognone, Acting City Clerk, City of Kingston, dated May 19, 2010, regarding 'Declaration of Parallel Transit as Essential Service'.  Received and referred to staff as well as the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

5. Chris Somerville, Clerk, Township of King, dated May 31, 2010, regarding 'Region of York Environmental Assessment for Improvements to Bathurst Street between Green Lane and Yonge Street'.  Received.

6. Allen Cornutt, Resident, Richmond Hill, dated June 6, 2010, regarding 'Taxi Issues in York Region'.  Received and referred to staff.

7. Memo from Commissioner Llewellyn-Thomas and attached April 2010 Transit Ridership Statistics. Received.

8. Regional Councillor Frustaglio requested that staff conduct a noise assessment on Teston Road between Jane and Keele Street, and report back in early 2011.  The report should include the requirements of the current Noise Mitigation Policy, costs associated with the assessment, costs associated with any recommended mitigation strategies and an update on trees that were removed and not replaced during the reconstruction of Teston Road. 

9. Regional Councillor Spatafora requested that staff investigate replacing grass with alternative vegetation that require less maintenance on roadsides in both rural and urban areas and report back to the Transportation Services Committee in early 2011.

PRIVATE SESSION

The Committee resolved into private session at 10:20 a.m. to consider the following:

1. Private Update from the Commissioner of Transportation Services � Transit Operations � Markham, Richmond Hill, Stouffville � Security of Municipal Property and Potential Land Acquisition

The Committee resumed in public session at 11:02 a.m. with no report out.  The Committee's recommendations on the above matter will be forwarded to Council for consideration at its June 24, 2010 Private Session.

The Transportation Services Committee adjourned at 11:03 a.m.
