22  UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS

 

The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action:

 

DISCLOSURE OF INTEREST

 

1. Regional Councillor Taylor declared a pecuniary interest in the communication item from Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, relating to Toronto Pearson Airport as he is an owner of a company that operates out of the Airport. Regional Councillor Taylor did not take part in the discussion relating to this item or vote on this item. (See Communication Item No. 9.)

2. J.D. Leach, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, April 5, 2007, regarding the 'Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan' and requesting confirmation from York Region on the Region's commitment to funding for pedestrian and cycling facilities within Regional right-of-ways and any other options and programs being developed for the implementation of a Regional Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan. Received and referred to staff.

 

3. Sheila Birrell, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, April 25, 2007, forwarding the Town's report titled 'Status Report on the Ontario Power Authority's Integrated Power System Plan' for information. Received.

 

4. Donna Cansfield, Minister of Transportation, May 1, 2007, responding to Regional Council's recommendations regarding the five-year Southern Ontario Highways Program and providing an update on the Highway 404 Extension and Highway 427 Extension projects. (See also Report 6, Clause 26 of the Transportation and Works Committee.) Received.

 

5. Dalton McGuinty, Premier and Minister of Research and Innovation, May 15, 2007, responding to the Region's letter regarding support for the Ministry of Research and Innovation's Strategic Plan. Received.

 

6. J.D. Leach, City Clerk, City of Vaughan [2.9MB], May 25, 2007, regarding the GTA West Corridor Environmental Assessment process, for information. Received and referred to staff.

 

7. J.D. Leach, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, May 25, 2007, regarding 'Yonge Street Study OPA 669' and requesting the Region reconsider the matter. Received and referred to staff.

 

8. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, May 30, 2007, regarding the Long Term Regional Tourism Strategy � Phase One, and providing details regarding York Region having less than its proportionate share of several key tourism industry sectors, under section 4.5 of the report. Received.

 

9. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, June 7, 2007, regarding the Toronto Pearson International Airport and proposed Pickering Airport resolution. The Committee received the communication and recommends the adoption of the Resolution.  (A copy of the communication and attached resolution is attached to this report.)

 

10. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, June 7, 2007, providing comments regarding Ontario's High Occupancy Vehicle Lane Network to be submitted to the Province prior to the June 23, 2007 deadline. The Committee received the communication and recommends Council endorse staff's comments as the basis for the Region's submission to the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of the Environment prior to the June 23, 2007 deadline for comments. (A copy of the communication and attachment is attached to this report.)

 

The Planning and Economic Development Committee adjourned at 2:47 p.m.
