1  Gayle Wood, Chief Administrative Officer/Secretary-Treasurer, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, February 23, 2006, withdrawing a request for deputation status at this meeting of the Finance and Administration Committee.  Received.

 

2  Frank Klees, MPP, Oak Ridges, February 3, 2006, forwarding support of Regional Council's proposal to request the Attorney General to appoint more Justices of the Peace in York Region.  Received.

 

3  Bob Panizza, Director of Corporate Services, Town of Aurora [2.2MB], November 29, 2005, regarding the UNESCO Proposal Calling for a Canadian Coalition of Municipalities Against Racism.  Received.

 

4  Pam Gilroy, Regional Clerk, the Regional Municipality of Niagara, November 25, 2005, forwarding a resolution adopted by the Council of the Regional Municipality of Niagara on November 24, 2005, regarding Funding of Social Programs.  Received.

 

5  Shirley Hoy, City Manager, City of Toronto, February 15, 2006, regarding GTA Equalization.  Received and referred to the Commissioner of Finance for a Report.

                       

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

1.  Mayor Jones, on behalf of the Committee, welcomed Lloyd Russell to his first Finance and Administration Committee meeting as Commissioner of Finance.

 

2. John West, Town Councillor, Town of Aurora and Chair, LSRCA Building Committee, on behalf of the Board and staff of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, thanked the Chair, Mayors and Members of Regional Council for their support in the construction of the LSRCA's new energy efficient administration building.

 

3. Mayor Cousens noted that the 2006 Central Ontario Municipal Conference, to be hosted by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, is scheduled to be held on Thursday April 27, 2006, which would be in conflict with the Regional Council meeting scheduled for that day.  Regional Chair Fisch undertook to review the matter to see whether the conflict in scheduling could be resolved.

 

 

The Finance and Administration Committee adjourned at 9:18 a.m.
