The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:

DEPUTATION

 

1.  Mr. Paul Mantella, President, Nashville Area Ratepayers Association, communication dated September 19, 2008, requesting to make a deputation regarding 'Nashville Road Safety Concerns'. 

 

The communication and deputation were received with a request that staff:

 

a)  provide a comprehensive report to the Committee at its November 5, 2008 meeting concerning all other Regional roads that have current truck restrictions within York Region;

a) clarify the 'no truck' signage at King Road and Highway 27; and

b) follow up with the appropriate authorities to ensure that enforcement of the current half-load restriction on Nashville Road is immediately enforced.

2.  Presentation by Paul May, Director of Infrastructure Planning, regarding 'Metrolinx Regional Transportation Plan'.  Received.

3.  Donna L. McLarty, Town Clerk, Town of Richmond Hill, dated September 11, 2008, regarding 'Region of York - Water Efficient Toilet Rebate Program'.  Received.

 

4.  P.M. Madill, Regional Clerk, Regional Municipality of Durham, dated September 18, 2008, regarding 'Pre-qualification of Contractors for the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Retrofit Construction Project in the City of Pickering'.  Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

5.  Mayor Emmerson requested that staff review the number of transportation-related items being placed on the Planning and Economic Development Committee agenda, specifically report items that impact the Transportation Services Department's budget.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

The Committee resolved into private session at 10:55 a.m. to consider the following:
