The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action:

 

 

PRESENTATIONS                    

1. Federal Green Space Lands - Draft Master Plan and Implementation Strategy

Patricia Short-Galle, Regional Manager, Transport Canada, Pickering Lands, Green Space and Planning, January 29, 2004, Bruce Cudmore, EDA Collaborative Inc., and Katherine Dugmore, Senes Consultants Ltd. presented the Federal Green Space Lands - Draft Master Plan and Implementation Strategy. Received and referred to staff for comments.

 

(A copy of the Draft Master Plan and Implementation Strategy was forwarded to each Member of Council with the March 3, 2004 Planning and Economic Development Committee Agenda and a copy thereof is on file in the Office of the Regional Clerk. A copy of the presentation is also on file in the Office of the Regional Clerk.)

 

2. Urban Design Charette Findings

 

Sean Hertel, Planner, Community Planning Branch, made a presentation regarding the Regional Centres and Corridors Urban Design Charette held on February 3, 2004. Received.

           

COMMUNICATIONS

3. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, February 25, 2004, regarding an Economic Strategy Workshop to be held on April 7, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in Committee Room A, immediately following the Planning and Economic Development Committee meeting. Received.

 

4. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, March 1, 2004, enclosing the 2004 York Region Visitors' Guide and KeyNote Conference and Meeting Planner.  Received. 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

5. Committee acknowledged the excellent work done by Brenda McGowan, Tourism Promotion Co-ordinator and Donald Eastwood, Director, Economic Strategy, in connection with the SARS recovery program and attracting business to the Region.

 

Committee was also informed of an announcement made at the 3rd Annual Tourism Conference in York Region that funding in the amount of $100,000 was to be made available through the Ontario Tourism SARS Recovery Fund to York Region for tourism marketing.

 

The Planning and Economic Development Committee adjourned at  3:15 p.m.
