13 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action:
ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR
1. The Planning and Economic Development Committee elected Regional Councillor Wong as Chair and Regional Councillor Taylor as Vice-Chair of the Committee for the year 2008.
DISCLOSURE OF INTEREST
2. Mayor Black declared a pecuniary interest in Clause 2 of this report entitled 'Proposed Built Boundary for the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006: Fall 2007 Technical Paper', in that a client of her law firm may have an interest in the matter. Mayor Black did not participate in the consideration, discussion or vote on this matter.

DEPUTATION
3. Leslie Luxemburger, Environmental and Urban Development Specialist, Sustainable Urban Development Association [3.9MB], regarding issues facing York Region and the 905 area and sustainable development and transportation options available to the Region. Received.
COMMUNICATIONS
(Regional Council at its meeting on January 24, 2008 amended the following communication amended by adding the words "and referred to staff" following the word "received".)
4. D.L. McLarty, Deputy Clerk, Town of Richmond Hill, November 28, 2007, requesting the Region approve the Official Plan Amendment needed to implement the Significant Woodlands Study in consideration of the David Dunlap Observatory lands matter. Received.
5. Leona Dombrowsky, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, January 10, 2008, responding to the Region's letter of December 14, 2007 regarding the Lake Simcoe Environmental Management Strategy. Received.
OTHER BUSINESS
6. Staff was requested to prepare a motion regarding the David Dunlap Observatory lands matter for Council's consideration at its meeting of January 24, 2008.
Regional Councillor Wong excused himself from the meeting at 3:05 p.m. and asked Regional Councillor Taylor to take the Chair for the remainder of the meeting.
The Planning and Economic Development Committee adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
