8 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS

 

The Finance and Administration Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Finance and Administration Committee with the following action:

 

PRESENTATIONS

1. Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority - 2004 Budget

Gayle Wood, Chief Administrative Officer presented the 2004 Budget of the LSRCA. Also in attendance were Sandra Hanson, Director of Corporate Services, Roy Bridge, Chair, and Mike Walters, Director of Environmental Services. A copy of the presentation materials is on file with the Regional Clerk.

 

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority - 2004 Budget

Brian Denney, Chief Administrative Officer, presented the 2004 Budget of the TRCA. Also in attendance were Jim Dillane, Director of Finance and Business Development, and Ralph Kofler, Co-ordinator of Budget & Financial Services.  A copy of the presentation materials is on file with the Regional Clerk.

 

The Committee received the presentations from the officials of the Conservation Authorities and deferred further consideration of the respective Budgets until the March 4, 2004 meeting of the Committee to allow for further consultations with Regional staff.

 

2. York Regional Police - 2004 Budget

Chief of Police Armand La Barge, Deputy Chief Eric Joliffe, Deputy Chief Bruce Herridge and Mark Holland, Manager of Financial Services presented the 2004 Proposed Operating and Capital Budgets of the York Regional Police. A copy of the presentation materials is on file with the Regional Clerk.

 

The Committee received the presentation of the Chief of Police and requested that he and his officials attend a Special Meeting of the Finance and Administration Committee to be scheduled for February 12, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. with certain additional information as requested by members of the Committee.

 

3. 2004 Budget & Business Plan - Corporate Support Departments

Michael Garrett, Chief Administrative Officer, Sandra Cartwright, Commissioner of Finance and Treasurer, and Jim Davidson, Commissioner of Corporate Services presented the 2004 Budget and Business Plan of the support departments. A copy of materials used in the presentation is on file with the Regional Clerk.

 

The Committee directed that further consideration of the matter be deferred until a Special Meeting of the Committee to be held on February 12, 2004.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

4. Brian W. Knott, City Solicitor/Clerk, City of Sarnia, January 8, 2004, forwarded a resolution adopted by Sarnia City Council at its meeting on December 15, 2003, regarding Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

 

The Committee received the communication, expressed support for the position taken by the City of Sarnia, referred the matter to staff for a report on the cost and services provided by MPAC, and directed that representatives from MPAC be invited to attend a meeting of the Committee.

 

5. Brian W. Knott, City Solicitor/Clerk, City of Sarnia, January 8, 2004, forwarded a resolution adopted by Sarnia City Council at its meeting on December 15, 2003, regarding Tax Assessment. Received.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

The Committee agreed that a Special Meeting be called for February 12, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. to continue further consideration of the York Regional Police 2004 Budget and the 2004 Budget and Business Plan of the Regional support departments.

 

The Finance and Administration Committee adjourned at 12:42 p.m.
