1 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community Services and Housing Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action:

PRESENTATIONS
1. Marc Gallant, Senior Multimedia Specialist, Corporate Communications Services, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, regarding 'Draft 2009 Corporate Communications Services Accessibility Plan'. Received.
The Committee recommended that the use of acronyms be avoided, and that Kirsten Hill participate in the RSS technology pilot, where applicable.
2. Lucas Cugalj, Director, Strategy and Business Planning, Environmental Services Department, regarding 'Draft 2009 Environmental Services Accessibility Plan'. Received.
The Committee requested that staff investigate audio links on the website for brochures.
The Committee further recommended that the AAC critique and comment on all departmental Emergency Plans to ensure that the needs of persons with disabilities are addressed; that future emergency management exercises at the Region also incorporate the comments and expertise of the AAC, and preferably that members of the AAC be invited to participate in these exercises; and that notice be sent to all Regional municipal AAC's of this action for their information, and that they also be invited to participate in the planning of such exercises.
3. Tracy Grover, Project Coordinator, Property Services, Corporate Services Department, regarding 'Draft 2009 Corporate Services Accessibility Plan'. Received.

The Committee recommended that Kirsten Hill be nominated by the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee for the Volunteer Service Award (VSA) through the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration.
