The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community and Health Services Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action:

PRESENTATIONS
1. Morris Faccin, Manager, Emergency Management and Greg Stasyna, Program Manager, Training, Exercises and Public Education, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer regarding 'Update on Emergency Management Initiatives and Personal Preparedness' Received.
2. Rick Takagi, Manager, Capital Assets, Transportation and Community Planning Department regarding 'YRT/Viva Accessibility Update' Received.
3. Monica Bryce, Manager, Strategic Analysis, Data Services and Community Investments, Strategic Service Integration and Policy Branch, Community and Health Services Department regarding 'York Region Transit Fare Subsidy Pilot Program' Received.
OTHER BUSINESS
4. 'AAC Breakfast Meeting'
Committee was advised that the meeting is confirmed for Wednesday, October 3, 2012, beginning at 8 a.m., at the York Region Administrative Centre, Seminar Room. Accessibility Advisory Committees from other communities have been invited to come and share best practices, ideas and achievements. York Region AAC members are being asked to act as event hosts and take on volunteer duties. An organizing meeting will be held closer to the date. Received.
5. 'One Voice Network employABILITY Job Fair'
Committee was advised that this job fair will be held at the Thornhill Community Centre on September 27, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Received.
6. Lisa Gonsalves, Managing Director, Strategic Service Integration and Policy, provided Committee with the following highlights of accessibility activities planned for the Fall:
'Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations under AODA'
A policy outlining how York Region will meet the various requirements of the regulation is currently being developed. Staff will be confirming how the Region will monitor, review and report compliance with the regulation. Reports on progress will be brought back in the Fall.
'Accessibility Plan'
A progress report of the accessibility initiatives of the 2011/2012 Accessibility Plan is being produced and a new multi-year accessibility planning format, including transportation-specific planning requirements is being developed. Further updates regarding the Accessibility Plan and its initiatives will be coming forward in the Fall.
'Accessibility News � Employee Newsletter'
A copy of the inaugural edition of a newsletter, intended for internal staff as the main vehicle to communicate information regarding AODA and standards, was circulated to Committee members. The second issue is currently being developed. It was recommended by Committee that the Accessibility Advisory Committee contribute a guest column.

7. 'Taste of the Hill Multi-Cultural Festival'
Regional Councillor Spatafora invited committee members to this free event scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Richmond Green Park in the Town of Richmond Hill.
8. The next meeting of the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 4 p.m.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
