Simmons The Accessibility Advisory Committee began its meeting at 1 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community Services and Housing Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action: ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION
1. Memo from Joann Simmons, Commissioner of Community Services and Housing dated March 18, 2005 regarding draft letter to be sent from Wilf Morley, AAC Chair regarding "Follow up on Access Guide Project". Received and endorsed. 2. Memo from Joann Simmons, Commissioner of Community Services and Housing dated March 18, 2005 regarding draft letter to be sent from Wilf Morley, AAC Chair and Regional Councillor Joyce Frustaglio, AAC Vice-Chair regarding "Harmonizing the Ontario Building Code (OBC) with the proposed Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2004 (AODA)". Received and endorsed. 3. Memo from Joann Simmons, Commissioner of Community Services and Housing dated 4. Establishing the York Region AAC's role and priorities in the implementation of "Moving Forward: York Region's 2005 Accessibility Plan". Committee provided feedback to staff regarding its priorities for implementation of the 2005 Accessibility Plan. 5. Status of Regional Council's approval of "Moving Forward: York Region's 2005 Accessibility Plan". Committee was advised that the plan will be presented to Regional Council at its 6. Update on the proposed "Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2004". Staff advised that the draft bill is undergoing clause by clause debate and further information will be provided once it becomes available. 7. Access Committee members were requested to advise Lisa Gonsalves by 8. Just Ask: Accessibility and Inclusivity Course Update. Committee was advised that the course is now being offered corporate wide and is being favourably received. Any Committee members interested in participating were requested to advise Lisa Gonsalves. OTHER BUSINESS 9. Marc Gallant, Web Publisher for the Region provided samples of proposed changes to Regional staff's business cards.
