The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:

1. Kees Schipper, Commissioner of Transportation and Works made a presentation regarding Water and Wastewater Servicing � Accelerated Growth and Infrastructure Delivery Delays.  Received.

2. Sheila Birrell, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, dated March 10, 2004, regarding 'Region of York 2004 and 10 Year Capital Program (Roads and Transit)'.  Received.

 

3. Sheila Birrell, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, dated March 10, 2004, regarding 'Antiwhistling - Regional and Toronto Road Intersections'.  Received and the Town of Markham be advised that the Region of York will take no further action regarding this matter.

4. P.M. Madill, Regional Clerk, Regional Municipality of Durham, dated February 12, 2004, regarding 'Provincial Highway Improvements in Durham Region'.  Received.

 

5. Susan Neill, Committee Co-ordinator, Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee, March 26, 2004, forwarding January 20, 2004 communication from the City of Toronto, Board of Health, regarding 'possible use of pesticides to prevent the further spread of the Asian Longhorned Beetle infestation in Toronto'.  Received.

 

6. Sheila Birrell, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, dated March 30, 2004, forwarding Motion to request temporary road closure for the Taste of Asia Festival, July 3-4, 2004. Received and that approval be given to the temporary closure of Kennedy Road from Clayton Drive to Steeles Avenue, Town of Markham on July 3 and 4, 2004 for the Taste of Asia Festival and the Regional Solicitor be authorized to prepare the necessary by-law to give effect to the foregoing.

 

The Transportation and Works Committee adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
