1. Barbara Karrandjas, Legislative Administrator, Town of Caledon, dated February 25, 2011, regarding 'Highway 427 Extension � Ministry of Transportation Southern Highways Program 2010-2014'  Received.

5. Monthly Ridership Statistics

Memo from Commissioner Llewellyn-Thomas and attached February 2011 Monthly Ridership Statistics  Received.

 

Community Safety Zones in Richmond Hill

 

6. The Committee requested that staff review two elementary schools in Richmond Hill, namely Roselawn Public School at 422 Carrville Road and Walter Scott Public School at 500 Major Mackenzie Drive East, in relation to speed limits and Community Safety Zones.

 

Traffic Fatalities on Regional Roads

 

7. The Committee requested that staff report back on Regional roads with high rates of traffic fatalities.

 

Municipal Fill By-laws

 

8. The Committee discussed concerns pertaining to fill by-laws which are being challenged by the high quantity of fill being brought into rural municipalities within the GTA using Regional and local roads.  Meetings to review the issue will take place within the municipalities in the upcoming months in order to coordinate a by-law to restrict the movement of fill.

 

Contracted Services for Tree Watering

 

9. The Committee requested that when the Region uses contracted services for tree watering, that the local municipalities be contacted in order to coordinate this activity. 

 

Potential Programs Relating to Boulevards

 

10. The Committee requested that consideration be given to an "Adopt a Tree" or "Adopt a Boulevard" program with local schools, in relation to boulevard trees.

 

Rating of Contractors' Services

 

11. The Committee requested that staff review the concept of a rating system for contractors once their work has been completed. 

 

 

 

The Transportation Services Committee adjourned at 11:28 a.m.
