The Transportation Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation Services Committee with the following action:

ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR

1. The Transportation and Works Committee elected Mayor W. Emmerson as Chair and Regional Councillor G. Landon as Vice Chair of the Transportation Services Committee for 2011.

2. Nanda Kandiah, Senior Project Engineer, Bob Stephenson, Head, Planning and Design for York and Simcoe, and Jason White, Head, Planning and Design, Ministry of Transportation Ontario, regarding 'Highway 404 Extension Update'.  Received and requested MTO to also provide the presentation to the Town of Georgina and the Town of East Gwillimbury.

3. Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas, Commissioner of Transportation Services, regarding 'Transportation Services Overview and Outlook' [3.1MB].  Received and requested that staff bring back an overview of the coordination of capital plans between the Regions of Durham, Peel and Simcoe.

7. Kristen Walli, Board Secretary, Ontario Energy Board, dated January 6, 2011, regarding "Response to King Township's Request to Re-consider the Proposed Route for the Gas Pipeline" (Please refer to Communication 6).  Received.

OTHER BUSINESS

8. Memo from Commissioner Llewellyn-Thomas and attached November 2010 Monthly Ridership Statistics.  Received and requested that staff report back on options for increasing ridership during off-peak times.

9. The Committee requested that staff provide a report regarding the bottleneck at Highway 7 and the Humber River.

The Transportation Services Committee adjourned at 11:25 a.m.
