1. Kate Zavitz, Policy Advisor, Association of Municipalities of Ontario, dated February 9, 2004, regarding 'Tax Exempt Transit Benefits'.  Received.

 

2. Louise Moody, Executive Director, Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers, dated March 10, 2004, regarding 'Transit Georgina'.  Received and referred to staff for further discussion with Transit Georgina.

 

3. John McLean, Chair, Jerico Youth Centre and The Learning Centre for Georgina, dated March 11, 2004, regarding 'Transit Georgina'.  Received and referred to staff for further discussion with Transit Georgina.

 

4. Deanna Barnes, Clinical Coordinator, Women's Support Network of York Region, dated March 19, 2004, regarding 'Transit Georgina Proposal'.  Received and referred to staff for further discussion with Transit Georgina.

 

5. Edith B. Shore, President, Hospice Georgina Chippewas of Georgina Island, dated March 23, 3004, regarding 'Transit Georgina'.  Received and referred to staff for further discussion with Transit Georgina.

 

PRESENTATIONS

6. Connie Phelps, Acumen Marketing Research, made a presentation regarding Conventional Customer Satisfaction Survey Results (2003).  Received.

 

7. Connie Phelps, Acumen Marketing Research, made a presentation regarding Mobility Plus Customer Satisfaction Survey Results (2003).  Received.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

8. Committee was referred to an April 15, 2004 Toronto Star article entitled "GO staff slam York's transit plan as wasteful" by Transportation reporter Kevin McGran.  Regional Chair Bill Fisch advised that this subject would be discussed at the April 16, 2004 GO Transit Board meeting.  Received.

 

9. Regional Councillor Frank Scarpitti requested that staff provide a report regarding the possible modification or extension of the Unionville GO shuttle service.  Received and referred to staff for consideration in the context of the 2005 annual service plan review.

 

10. Regional Councillor Frank Scarpitti asked whether staff had given consideration to the use of bio-diesel fuel as an alternative fuel for buses.  Received and referred to staff for report to Committee regarding consideration of the use of bio-diesel as an alternative fuel for buses.

 

11. Irene McNeil, Manager, Service Planning, York Region Transit, made apresentation regarding the 2003 Ridership Summary for Conventional Services and Specialized Services.  Received.

 

PRIVATE SESSION

12. The Committee resolved into Private Session at 11:05 a.m. to discuss a property matter and resumed in Open Session at 11:29 a.m. with no report.

 

The Transit Committee adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
