The Transit Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transit Committee with the following action:

 

1. Regional Councillor J. Jones was elected Chair and Regional Councillor J. Frustaglio was elected Vice Chair of the Transit Committee for 2007.

 

 

DEPUTATION

2. Dennis Seeley, Chairperson, Transit Committee, Markham and East York Agricultural Society, January 16, 2007, requesting that York Region Transit extend its transit service to the Fair Grounds at McCowan Road and Elgin Mills Road during the four days of the annual Markham Fair. The deputation and the communication submitted by Dan O'Brien, General Manager and Dennis Seeley, Chairperson, Transit Committee, Markham and East York Agricultural Society, January 16, 2007 were received.

 

The General Manager of York Region Transit was requested to report back to the Committee on the details, including a cost/benefit analysis, on how a request for the extension of transit service to the four day Markham Fair might be accommodated.

3. Don Gordon, General Manager, regarding 'Transit Initiatives � 2006 to 2010 Term'.  Received.

 

4. Rajeev Roy, Manager, Transit Management Systems, regarding 'Installation of On-Board Security Cameras'.  Received.

6. Call Centre Statistics.  Received.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

Committee resolved into private session at 10:33 a.m. and resumed in open session at 11:10 a.m. with no report out.

 

 

The Transit Committee adjourned at 11:11 a.m.
