4 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS

 

The Solid Waste Management Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Solid Waste Management Committee with the following action:

 

PRESENTATION

 

1. 2007 Business Plan and  Budget

Andy Campbell, Director, Solid Waste Management, presented the 2007 Solid Waste Business Plan and Budget, highlighting the objectives, community needs and 2007 initiatives.

 

The Committee recommended that the presentation by Andy Campbell, Director of Solid Waste Management,  Transportation and Works Department, be received and the 2007 Solid Waste Management Business Plan and Budget for the Transportation and Works Department  be referred to the April 5, 2007 Finance and Administration Committee meeting with the following recommendation:

 

The 2007 Business Plan and Budget for the Solid Waste Management Branch of the Transportation and Works Department be recommended for adoption.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

2. Association of Municipalities of Ontario Member Communication dated February 2, 2007 requesting comments and support regarding the AMO/AMRC Discussion Paper on Strengthening Extended Producer Responsibilities for Ontario's Blue Box.  Received and referred to staff for a report to the next Solid Waste Management Committee meeting.

 

3. Mike Birett, Manager, Waste Diversion, February 13, 2007 regarding the glass market and the quality of York Region's glass stream. Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

4. Andy Campbell, Director, Solid Waste Management, February 9, 2007, advising the Household Hazardous Waste Program waste tickets to be completed by customers at the four Household Hazardous Waste Depots in the Region have been revised. Received.

 

5. The Committee was advised that the same citizen members of the Durham/York Residual Waste Joint Management Group representing York Region have been selected to remain for the 2006 � 2010 term of Council as follows:  Ian Gray, Newmarket Environmental Advisory Committee, Brent Mersey, Markham Conservation Committee and Sue Perrella, Vaughan CARES. Received.

 

 

The Solid Waste Management Committee adjourned at  11:20 a.m.
