The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action:
COMMUNICATIONS

1. Minister of the Environment dated June 17, 2005, responding to the Region's letter of April 27, 2005 regarding the 'Committee's report and recommendations for York Region's infrastructure projects'.
Received.
2. Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing dated June 27, 2005 responding to the Region's letter of April 22, 2005 regarding 'water and wastewater servicing, transportation and inter-regional connectivity and the development of Seaton'.
Received.
4. Commissioner of Planning and Development Services dated August 26, 2005 regarding 'Canadian Institute of Planners Awards for Planning Excellence'. The Committee was informed that the Planning and Development Services Department received the 2005 Awards for Planning Excellence in two categories: Housing and Our Economy, Remaining Competitive - Housing Category; and Draft Economic Strategy - Economic Development Category.
Committee thanked staff for their excellent work and recommended that a letter be prepared on behalf of Council to the planning staff congratulating them on the receipt of these awards.
OTHER BUSINESS
5. Committee directed staff to report to Council on September 22, 2005 regarding Town of Whitchurch/Stouffville, O.P.A. 115.
6. Committee requested Town of Markham staff be invited to make a presentation to the Committee on the planning concept of lifestyle centres.
The Planning and Economic Development Committee adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
