The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action:

 

 

DISCLOSURE  OF INTEREST

 

1. Regional Councillor Taylor declared a pecuniary interest in the communication item from Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, relating to Toronto Pearson Airport as he is an owner of a company that operates out of the Airport. Regional Councillor Taylor did not take part in the discussion relating to this item or vote on this item.

 

 

PRESENTATION            

 

2. YORKbiotech � The Power of Convergence

 

Robert Foldes, Executive Director, YORKbiotech provided an overview of the organization and highlighted the promotion of economic success and growth of regional biotechnology and related industries. Received.

 

           

COMMUNICATIONS

3. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, April 25, 2007, regarding a Resolution relating to the Toronto Pearson International Airport and Proposed Pickering Airport.  Committee was advised that Durham Regional Council would be considering this matter at their May 30, 2007 meeting and that an update will be provided to the June Planning and Economic Development Committee meeting. Received.

 

4. Carolyn Lance, Administrative Assistant to the Town Clerk, Town of Georgina, April 13, 2007, regarding the York Region New Communities Workshop Feedback and York Region Natural Heritage System Workshop reports and advising that Town Council endorsed the Region's recommendations and that the Town will continue to work with the Region on these workplans. Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

5. Planning for Tomorrow Public Consultation

Committee was advised that a successful public consultation was held in Vaughan on May 1, with five further sessions to be held in the next two weeks throughout the Region.

 

 

The Planning and Economic Development Committee adjourned at 2:10 p.m.
