The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee with the following action:

 

PRESENTATION

1. David Colgan, Executive Director, Simcoe York District Health Council and Jill Tettmann, Director of Special Projects and Health Planner regarding York Region Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation: A System Design to 2008. Received and recommend to Regional Council that the Regional Chair write to the Premier of Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care confirming the Region's support of the Simcoe York District Health Council's recommendations regarding Complex Continuing Care and General Rehabilitation beds for York Region and further that the Ministry be requested to consider further the rate of population growth in York Region.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

2. Sudbury & District Health Unit to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, dated February 27, 2004, regarding 'Equitable public health programs and services in Ontario'. Received and referred to the Human Services Planning Coalition.

 

3. Windsor Essex County Health Unit dated April 7, 2004, regarding 'Ontario Government's promise to make indoor public places and workplaces 100% smoke-free by 2006'. Received.

 

4. Information package entitled "Smoke Free York Region". Received with thanks.

 

PRIVATE SESSION

5. Committee resolved into Private Session at 3:42 p.m. to consider a legal matter and resumed in open session at 3:55 p.m. with no report.

 

The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee adjourned at 3:57 p.m.
