1. Lorraine Billings, Legislative Services Associate, Town of Ajax, dated May 29, 2013, regarding 'Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant Outfall Environmental Assessment Status Update'.  Received.

 

2. Dan Pisani, Director of Operations and Engineering, Town of Georgina, dated June 5, 2013, regarding 'Yard Waste Disposal Charges'.  Received and referred

to staff.

 

3. Erin Mahoney, Commissioner of Environmental Services, dated June 19, 2013, regarding 'Food Waste Grinder Sub-Committee of Environmental Services Committee'.  Receive and adopt the Terms of Reference of the Food Waste Grinder Sub-Committee.

 

4. D. Bowen, Regional Clerk/Director of Legislative Services, Durham Region, dated May 16, 2013, regarding 'Sole Source Engineering Assignment for the York-Durham Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant in the City of Pickering � Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System Integration Services and Existing Incineration Platform Migration'.  Received.

 

5. D. Bowen, Regional Clerk/Director of Legislative Services, Durham Region, dated May 16, 2013, regarding 'Assignment of Engineering Services for the Final Stage (Stage 3) of the Class Environmental Assessment to Address Capacity Limitations of the Existing Outfall/Diffuser at the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant, in the City of Pickering'.  Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

Clear Bag Awareness Campaign

 

6. Regional Councillor Heath provided Committee with an update on the City of Markham's Clear Bag Awareness Campaign and distributed a communication dated May 14, 2013 regarding 'Markham Environmental Advisory Committee (MEAC) Report on Clear Bag Awareness Campaign'. This communication is on file in the Regional Clerk's Office.

 

Waste Diversion Act

 

7. Erin Mahoney, Commissioner of Environmental Services, advised Committee that the Ontario government has proposed to replace the existing Waste Diversion Act, 2002 with the proposed Waste Reduction Act, 2013.

 

Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant � Completion Event

 

8. Erin Mahoney, Commissioner of Environmental Services, provided Committee with an update on Infrastructure Canada's upcoming completion event and tour at Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant on June 24, 2013 at 2 p.m.

 

 

6  PRIVATE SESSION

 

 

The Committee resolved into private session at 10:45 a.m. to consider the following:

 

1. Source Separated Organic Waste Processing Facility Update - Project 71335 - Proposed Land Acquisition and Solicitor-Client Privilege

 

2. Private Verbal Update - Residual Waste Management - Solicitor-Client Privilege

 

 

The Committee resumed in public session at 11:21 a.m.  Committee recommended adoption of the confidential recommendations, as amended, in private item 1, and referral of private item 2 to Council at its Private Session on June 27, 2013. 

 

 

 

The Environmental Services Committee adjourned at 11:21 a.m.
