The Accessibility Advisory Committee began its meeting at 4 �p.m. on February 22, 2012.
1 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community and Health Services Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action:
ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR
1. The Committee recommended the appointment of citizen member Steve Foglia as Vice Chair of the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee for the year 2012.

8. Accessibility Advisory Committee Meeting Schedule for 2012 Received.
9. Kim Adeney, Senior Program and Compliance Analyst, ODA/AODA, Community and Health Services regarding 'Update on National Access Awareness Week' Received.
Committee recommended that Regional Council acknowledge June 3 � 9, 2012 as 'National Access Awareness Week'.
Committee suggested the formation of a sub-committee to develop ideas for National Access Awareness Week.
Committee suggested providing information on the York Region website which would include links and information about each of the nine local municipalities' National Access Awareness Week.
10. Committee was made aware by citizen member Bob Creighton that he is producing a Rogers television show entitled "Universal Living � Breaking Down Barriers'. Mr. Creighton advised that Accessibility Advisory Committee Chair, Regional Councillor Vito Spatafora will be a guest on one of the upcoming shows, of which four are in production at this time.
11. Committee was made aware that the provincial Commission on Social Assistance Reform has released its second discussion paper, and is looking for feedback on the recommended reforms, which are going forward to the Minister in June 2012. A community consultation session, hosted by the Human Services Planning Board, will be held on March 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Theresa High School in Richmond Hill. Members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee are invited, in order to provide feedback, and as well, the Commission has accepted the invitation from Chair Fisch to attend.
12. The next meeting of the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 4 p.m.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee adjourned at 5:49 p.m.
