The Transportation and Works Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Transportation and Works Committee with the following action:

 

COMMUNICATIONS

1. J. D. Leach, City Clerk, City of Vaughan, dated April 2, 2004, regarding 'Creation of Intergovernmental Task Force Asian Long-Horned Beetle'.  Received and referred to Staff.

 

2. Sheila Birrell, Town Clerk, Town of Markham, dated April 14, 2004, regarding 'Status Report on the Rodick Road/Highway 407 Overpass Construction Project'.  Received and referred to Staff.

 

3. Robert C. Prowse, Town Clerk, Town of Richmond Hill, dated April 20, 2004 (3MB), regarding 'Region of York � Water and Sewer Capacity and Allocation to Plans of Subdivision � (SRE.04.061).  Received and referred to Staff.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

4. Regional Chair Bill Fisch introduced and welcomed Cindy Harrison, Policy Advisor, who will be replacing Lisa Gonsalves while she is on maternity leave.  Ms. Harrison was formerly employed with the Toronto Police Services Board, Chairman's Office.

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

5. Committee resolved into Private Session at 12:05 p.m. to discuss legal matters, reconvened at 12:45 p.m. and passed the following resolution:

 

The Transportation and Works Committee recommends:

 

1. Regional staff be authorized to negotiate with Earth Tech Canada Inc. (Earth Tech) to expand their current role as Environmental Assessment Consultant to include the following additional Engineering Services: design, permitting and approvals, contract administration and site inspection services required to complete all remaining phases of the South East Collector Trunk Sewer Project.

 

2. The Regional Chair and Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to retain Earth Tech, to provide the additional Engineering Services for the South East Collector Trunk Sewer Project, subject to successful negotiations.

 

3. The provisions of the Purchasing By-law be waived to allow the direct award of the additional Engineering Services assignment to Earth Tech.

 

4. The Commissioner of Corporate Services be authorized to initiate negotiations for the required land acquisitions upon completion of the Class Environmental Assessment Report and Property Needs Report.

 

The Transportation and Works Committee adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
