COMMUNICATIONS 

 

1. Chandra Urquhart, Legislative Coordinator, City of Brampton, dated October 1, 2012, regarding 'MTO GTA-West Corridor Environmental Assessment -- City of Brampton Response to Transportation Development Strategy including a Revised Preliminary Route Planning Study'  Received.

 

2. Fernando Lamanna, Deputy Clerk, Town of East Gwillimbury, dated October 9, 2012, requesting the Region to approve signalization at the intersection of Colonel Wayling Boulevard and Leslie Street in advance of signal warrants being met  Received and referred to staff.

 

3. Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas, Commissioner of Transportation and Community Planning, dated October 31, 2012, regarding 'York Region Transit Daily Boardings and Vehicle Use Statistics'  Received.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

Monthly Transit/Viva Ridership Statistics

                                       

4. Memorandum from Commissioner Llewellyn-Thomas and attached September 2012 Monthly Transit/Viva Ridership Statistics  Received.

 

Parking and Stopping Prohibition on 16th Avenue

 

5. Committee considered and recommends adoption of the following resolution, adopted by the City of Markham on October 30, 2012:

 

'That the Region of York enact a bylaw to prohibit stopping and parking on the north and south sides of 16th Avenue, east of Highway 48 to 9th Line in Markham.'

 

 

11  PRIVATE SESSION

           

The Committee resolved into private session at 11:15 a.m. to consider the following:

 

1. Private Report of the Commissioner of Transportation and Community Planning and the Commissioner of Corporate Services -- Acquisition of Property, North Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility -- Proposed Acquisition of Land

 

2. Private Report of the Regional Solicitor -- Termination of York Region Transit Viva LCD Advertising Screens Contract with Byte Media Inc. -- Litigation or Potential Litigation and Solicitor-Client Privilege

 

3. Private Attachment to Report D6 -- 'York Region Transit Viva LCD Advertising Screens Operation and Maintenance Contract Termination' -- Litigation or Potential Litigation and Solicitor-Client Privilege

 

4. Private Report of the Commissioner of Transportation and Community Planning and the Regional Solicitor -- Construction Services Cost Increase for Additional Site Remediation Work on Bathurst Street, North of Bloomington Road, Township of King -- Litigation or Potential Litigation

 

 

The Committee resumed in public session at 11:35 a.m. with no report out.  These four private items will be forwarded to Council for consideration at its November 15, 2012 Private Session.

 

 

 

The Transportation Services Committee adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
