The Solid Waste Management Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Solid Waste Management Committee with the following action:

 

 

PRESENTATION

 

1. Andy Campbell, Director, Solid Waste Management, made a presentation regarding the need to establish Community Environmental Centres in the Region. A video was shown of the Peel Region Community Environmental Centre in use in Caledon.

 

The Committee received the presentation and requested staff to arrange for a tour of the Peel Region Community Environmental Centre on Chrysler Drive in Brampton, following the Committee meeting on January 12, 2005.  A tour of the Peel Energy from Waste plant was also requested.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

2. Pat M. Madill, Regional Clerk, Region of Durham, November 10, 2004, regarding haulage and composting of kitchen food and yard wastes. Received.

 

3. Carolyn Lance, Administrative Assistant to the Town Clerk, Town of Georgina, November 10, 2004, regarding the York Region Solid Waste Management By-law. Received.

 

4. Anna M. Knowles, Deputy Clerk, Town of East Gwillimbury, November 12, 2004, regarding the York Region Solid Waste Management By-law. Received.

 

5. Mirka Januszkiewicz, Director of Waste Management Services, Region of Durham, November 18, 2004, regarding the Region of Durham Residual Waste Disposal Planning Study Development of Environmental Assessment Terms of Reference � Notice of Project Initiation. Received and referred to staff for a report in February, 2005.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

The Committee resolved into private session at 11:28 a.m. and resumed in public session at 11:33 a.m. with no report.

 

 

The Solid Waste Management Committee adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
