The Solid Waste Management Committee began its meeting at 9:00 a.m. on November 9, 2005.

3 2006 USER FEES - SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
4 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Solid Waste Management Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Solid Waste Management Committee with the following action:
PRESENTATION
1. Bruce Macgregor, Commissioner of Transportation and Works, presented the 2006 Business Plan and Budget for the Solid Waste Management Branch of the Transportation and Works Department. Committee received the presentation and recommended that the matter be referred to the December 1, 2005 Finance and Administration Committee meeting with the following recommendation:
The 2006 Business Plan and Budget for the Solid Waste Management Branch of the Transportation and Works Department be recommended for adoption with the proposed reductions of low priority Growth and Enhancement items.
2. Committee requested staff to advise Finance and Administration Committee on December 1, 2005 whether an amount of approximately $35,000 could be accommodated within the proposed 2006 Solid Waste Management budget towards funding an independent study to review waste diversion in the Region and propose an overall Regional strategy.
(Regional Council at its meeting on November 17, 2005 amended the foregoing Item to read "propose an overall strategy for the Region and the nine local municipalities" in the last line.)
COMMUNICATIONS
3. Lian Goodall, resident, October 3, 2005, regarding the Region's expansion to the recycling program. Received.
