The Solid Waste Management Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Solid Waste Management Committee with the following action:
PRESENTATIONS
1. York-Durham Residual Waste Environmental Assessment Update
Andy Campbell, Director, Solid Waste Management, provided an update on the steps taken to date regarding the York-Durham Residual Waste Environmental Assessment. Staff will be reporting to Committee in October on the status of the draft terms of reference to be presented to the public for further input. Received.
2. Update on New Blue Box Program
Andy Campbell, Director, Solid Waste Management, provided an update on the new Blue Box Program, highlighting the continuing public and contractor education required regarding items permitted in the blue box. Received.
COMMUNICATIONS
3. Rod Muir, Founder, Waste Diversion Toronto and Waste Diversion Campaigner, Sierra Club of Canada, May 30, 2005, regarding "True Residual Waste is Less than 10% not 40%". Received.
4. Robert C. Prowse, Town Clerk, Town of
5. Dennis Darby, Chair, Stewardship Ontario and Gemma Zecchini, Chair, Waste Diversion Ontario, June 30, 2005, enclosing the first payment for 2005 from industry to help pay for Blue Box recycling programs. Received.

7. Committee thanked staff for their hard work in facilitating a solution with the Town of
