The Solid Waste Management Committee began its meeting at 9:05 a.m. on January 18, 2006.

The Solid Waste Management Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Solid Waste Management Committee with the following action:

 

 

ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR

 

1. Regional Councillor Ferri was elected Chair and Regional Councillor Heath was elected Vice Chair of the Solid Waste Management Committee for 2006.

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

2. Co-Chair of Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group

The Committee was advised that the Terms of Reference of the Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group state that the Chair of the York Region Solid Waste Management Committee would be a co-chair of the Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group. 

 

The Committee recommends that the Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group be requested to waive the relevant portion of the Terms of Reference so as to permit Regional Councillor Wheeler, though not Chair of the York Region Solid Waste Management Committee in 2006, to remain co-chair of the Durham/York Joint Waste Management Group.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

3. Committee resolved into Private Session at 9:30 a.m. to discuss a legal matter and resumed in Public Session at 9:45 a.m. with no report.

 

 

The Solid Waste Management Committee adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
