9 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Planning and Economic Development Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Planning and Economic Development Committee with the following action:
PRESENTATIONS
1. Bryan Tuckey, Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, presented the 2006 Business Plan and Budget for the Planning and Development Services Department. Committee received the presentation and recommended that the matter be referred to the December 1, 2005 Finance and Administration Committee meeting with the following recommendation:
The 2006 Business Plan and Budget for the Planning and Development Services Department be recommended for adoption with the proposed reductions of low priority Growth and Enhancement items.
2. The Committee recommended that a proposal by the South Shore Community Broadband Project be referred to the November 16, 2004 eGovernment Sub-Committee for consideration. In the event the eGovernment Subcommittee does not meet on November 16, the Committee recommends the proposal be referred to the Finance and Administration Committee at its meeting on December 1, 2005.
3. Brenda McGowan, Tourism Promotion Co-Ordinator, Economic Development, regarding 'The Premier-Ranked Tourism Destination Project'. The presentation provided an outline of the Project developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation in 2001, what it entails and what it will achieve. Received.
OTHER BUSINESS
4. Committee requested staff to arrange for representatives from the York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board to make a presentation to the Committee in January 2006 regarding their student growth projections and facilities to accommodate that growth in York Region.
The Planning and Economic Development Committee adjourned at 2:35 p.m.
