The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee with the following action:

 

 

PRESENTATIONS

 

1.  Environmental Public Health Professionals Week - Joe La Marca, Director, Health Protection Division, Public Health Branch. Received

 

2.  Regional Councillor J. Frustaglio, Committee Chair, assisted by Regional Chair B. Fisch and members of the Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee, presented Ontario EMS Service Awards to the following York Region EMS Staff:

 

Rand McNally Award of Bravery:

�         Ian Phythian - Primary Care Paramedic

�         Shawn McLeish - Advanced Care Paramedic

�         Mark Hinton - Advanced Care Paramedic

 

AMEMSO Award of Innovation:

�         Sandra Norris - Manager, Continous Quality Improvement

 

EMS Television Series of the Year:

�         Dave Grant - Manager, Education and Training

 

 

COMMUNICATION

3. George Smitherman, Minister of Health, dated November 1, 2004, regarding 'funding support for smoke-free by-laws'. Received

 

 

OTHER BUSINESS

 

4. Barry Crowe, Director, Property Services Branch gave a verbal report regarding the 2005 EMS Capital Budget - York Region EMS Paramedic Response Station, 280 Church Street, Markham. Received

 

5. Committee requested that appropriate Region of York letterhead be available for Committee Chairs sending out correspondence on behalf of the Region.

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

6. Committee moved to Private Session at 3:55 p.m. to consider a legal matter and resumed in Open Session at 4:13 p.m. with no report.

 

 

The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee adjourned at 4:14 p.m.
