The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee with the following action:
PRESENTATION
1. Joann Simmons, Commissioner of Community Services, Housing and Health Services and Norm Barrette, Director of Operations, Emergency Medical Services regarding EMS Performance System Overview. Received. Committee directed staff to prepare a report for consideration at Regional Council on September 27, 2007 including:
a) addressing the issues raised in the presentation, specifically dispatch and off-load delays and their relationship to response times
b) identification of EMS resources provided and enhanced by the Region
c) evaluation of available information from other jurisdictions and the Province
d) recommendations to the Province to address the aforementioned issues
COMMUNICATION

1. Hon. Tony Clement, Minister of Health and the Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, August 10, 2007, regarding saturated and trans fats in food. Received.
OTHER BUSINESS
1. Staff was directed to prepare a resolution for the Committee's consideration in support of the Province amending its No-Smoking legislation to include the prohibiting of smoking in vehicles carrying children.
PRIVATE SESSION
1. Committee resolved into private session at 3:34 p.m. to consider information relating to the corporate organizational review - Personal matters about identifiable individuals.
The Committee resumed in public session at 4:20 p.m. with no report out.
The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee adjourned at 4:21 p.m.
