The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee with the following action:

B.  COMMUNICATION

1. City of Toronto, Board of Health, dated January 20, 2004, regarding 'possible use of pesticides to prevent the further spread of the Asian Longhorned Beetle infestation in Toronto'. Receive and forward to the nine area municipalities and to the Regional Transportation and Works Committee for their consideration.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

1. Subsequent to the presentation regarding Emergency Medical Services, staff was requested to prepare a report regarding the provision of an Advanced Care Paramedic Team to the York Regional Police Emergency Response Unit.

 

2. Committee Chair J. Frustaglio, assisted by Committee members L. Jackson and J. Heath, M. Garrett, Dr. H. Jaczek, B. Meekin, G. McEachen and T. Fernandes accepted the three year certification awarded to York Region Emergency Medical Services from the MOHLTC-EHS.

 

3. Staff was requested to prepare a report regarding the disposal of medical waste from private residences.

 

The Health and Emergency Medical Services Committee adjourned at 4:02 p.m.
