The Finance and Administration Committee began its meeting at 9:00 a.m. on March 4, 2004.

1  UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS

 

The Finance and Administration Committee advises Council of the following matters having been considered by the Finance and Administration Committee with the following action:

 

PRESENTATIONS

 

2004 Business Plan and Budget

1. York Regional Police 2004 Budget was presented by Chief of Police Armand La Barge and Mark Holland, Manager of Financial Services. Overheads used in the presentation are on file with the Office of the Regional Clerk. 

 

The presentation was received and the Police Budget was recommended to Regional Council for approval as submitted, subject to reduction of a total of $2.7 million to remove $2.2 million for gapping and $0.5 million for GST.

 

2. The Regional Consolidated 2004 Business Plan and Budget and Standing Committee Recommendations were presented by Michael Garrett, Chief Administrative Officer and Sandra Cartwright, Commissioner of Finance and Treasurer. Overheads used in the presentation are on file with the Office of the Regional Clerk.  The presentation was received and further consideration of the 2004 Consolidated Budget and Business Plan was deferred for completion at a Special Meeting of the Committee on March 11, 2004.

 

Arising out of the discussion of the Budget, the Committee referred to staff the matter of the presentation of future Regional budgets to determine an improved method of communicating the annual Regional Business Plan and Budget to the public.

 

OTHER BUSINESS

3. The Finance and Administration Committee agreed to hold a Special Meeting on March 11, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. to consider the matter of the 2004 Regional Business Plan and Budget and the remainder of the Agenda matters not considered at this meeting.

 

The Finance and Administration Committee adjourned at 11:35 a.m.
