UPDATE � COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS

 

The e-Government Sub-Committee advises the Finance and Administration Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Information e-Government Sub-Committee with the following action:

 

 

PRESENTATION

 

1. Peter Greer, Manager of Operation and Infrastructure, Infrastructure Technology Services, regarding the Data Centre Strategy.  Received.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

2. Minutes of the OneYork Governance Meeting dated September 14, 2005.  Received.

 

3. Karin Price, Committee Co-ordinator, Planning and Economic Development Committee, November 3, 2005, regarding a proposal by the South Shore Community Broadband Project.  Received.

 

 

DEPUTATION

 

4. Margaret Hyvarinen, Andrew Sibbald and Bruce Etherington, regarding the South Shore Community Broadband Project.  Referred to the Commissioner of Finance for discussions with South Shore Community Broadband on benefits that might be obtained by the Region or York Regional Police in exchange for funding or other forms of financial contribution to the project.

 

 

OTHER MATTERS

 

5. The Committee congratulated Information Technology Services staff on the receipt of the Diamond Award for Business Value at Showcase Ontario and the Municipal Gold Award at the GTEC conference in Ottawa for the Anywhere e-Desktop project. It was pointed out that approximately $5 million in savings would accrue to the Region as a result of the Citrix Anywhere e-Desktop project when fully implemented.

 

6. L. Shallal, Information Technology Services, provided a brief update on corporate savings accruing from the software licence negotiation with Hummingbird Ltd. for the e-Docs application.

 

 

The e-Government Sub-Committee adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
