The e-Government Sub-Committee began its meeting at 9:02 a.m. on March 22, 2006.
1 UPDATE � COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The e-Government Sub-Committee advises the Finance and Administration Committee the following matters having been considered by the e-Government Sub-Committee with the following action:
PRESENTATIONS
1. Darryl Blakely, Project Manager, Information Technology Services, regarding the Regional Owned Fibre Optic Build between the Regional Administration Building and 90 Bales Drive. Received.
2. Louis Shallal, Director, Information Technology Services, regarding a Web Based Collaboration Environment and Joint Portal Business Plan with the Town of Markham. Received.
3. Regional Councillor Jim Jones, regarding Cisco Day (March 30, 2006) "The Art of the Possible", a presentation to be hosted by Cisco Systems Canada for local and regional councillors and senior staff on the topic of communications integration. Received.
Other Business
1. Toronto 'WIFI' Initiative
Regional Councillor Jones circulated a copy of a March 17, 2006 communication from the Markham Board of Trade to Mayor Cousens, Town of Markham, requesting that an analysis of the City of Toronto 'WIFI' initiative be conducted. Received and referred to the Director of Information Technology Services for a short report.
2. Best Practices for Disaster Recovery
Regional Councillor Jones requested that the Sub-Committee receive a presentation from an external expert on best practices for disaster recovery. L. Shallal, Director, Information Technology Services, undertook to arrange an invitation to an appropriate presenter on behalf of the Sub-Committee.
The e-Government Sub-Committee adjourned at 10:09 a.m.
