SPECIAL MEETING

 

December 1, 2011

 

Regional Council met at 2:37 p.m. in the Council Chambers, York Region Administrative Centre, 17250 Yonge Street, Newmarket, with Regional Chair Fisch presiding.

 

The following were present at this Meeting:

 

Mayor:  Barrow, Bevilacqua, Dawe, Emmerson, Grossi, Hackson, Pellegrini, Scarpitti and Van Bynen 

           

Regional Councillor:  Heath, Jones, Landon, Li, Rosati, Schulte, Spatafora, Taylor, and Wheeler

           

Staff:  Davidson, Hulton, Leary, Llewellyn-Thomas, Macgregor, Hughes, and Urbanski

 

 

PRIVATE SESSION

 

192     Transit Strike

 

It was moved by Regional Councillor Wheeler, seconded by Regional Councillor Landon that Council convene in Private Session for the purpose of considering the following:

 

Private Memorandum from the Regional Solicitor � Transit Strike � Solicitor-Client

Carried

 

Council met in Private Session at 2:40 p.m. and reconvened in Council at 4:29 p.m.

 

It was moved by Regional Councillor Heath, seconded by Mayor Hackson that Council rise and report from Private Session.

Carried

 

It was moved by Regional Councillor Jones, seconded by Regional Councillor Heath that Council ask the Province for "back to work" legislation with a mediator/arbitrator attachment.

 

A recorded vote on this motion was as follows:

 

FOR:  Barrow, Heath, Jones, Landon, Scarpitti (5)

 

AGAINST:  Bevilacqua, Dawe, Emmerson, Grossi, Hackson, Li, Pellegrini, Rosati, Schulte, Spatafora, Taylor, Van Bynen, Wheeler (13)

                                                                                                                                                            Lost

 

It was moved by Mayor Emmerson, seconded by Regional Councillor Spatafora, that Council receive the private memorandum from the Regional Solicitor and adopt the confidential directions to staff.

193     CONFIRMATORY BYLAW

 

It was moved by Mayor Grossi, seconded by Mayor Bevilacqua that Council enact the following bylaw to confirm the proceedings of this meeting of Council.

 

Bylaw No. 2011-66

To confirm the proceedings of Council at its meeting held on December 1, 2011.

Carried
