The Accessibility Advisory Committee began its meeting at 3:53 p.m. on June 28, 2006.

 

 

1  UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS

 

The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community Services and Housing Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action:

 

 

PRESENTATIONS

 

1. Tiffany Beeston, Public Health Nurse, Health Services, regarding 'Access to universally funded influenza vaccine for persons with disabilities'. Received.

 

2. Barry Crowe, Director, Property Services regarding 'Update on the renovations to the north entrance'. Received.

 

3. Pauline Luening, Senior Policy Analyst, Community Services and Housing Department, regarding 'Inventory of modified units'. Received.

 

4. Sandra Vessel, Manager, Health Emergency Planning, Health Services, regarding 'Inclusion of persons with disabilities into Health Services, Emergency Planning for pandemic influenza'. Received.

 

5. Brian Drew, Manager, Specialized Services, York Region Transit, regarding 'Update of the Travel Training Program and the Mobility Plus Application Form'. Received.

 

Committee requested that the draft revised Mobility Plus Application Form be forwarded to the September, 2006 Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting, for comment prior to its submission to the Regional Transit Committee and Council.

Staff was requested to obtain information from the local municipalities regarding the number of tickets issued during the National Access Awareness Week blitz.

OTHER BUSINESS

 

13. Vice-Chair T. Robichaud recognized two recent articles from the Markham Economist & Sun regarding Committee members R. Hunn and B. Caiger.

 

14. C. Abankwa-Harris provided a verbal update on the recent activities undertaken for National Access Awareness Week.

 

15. L. Gonsalves provided a verbal update on the progress of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, specifically the Transportation Standards and Customer Service Standards committees.

 

 

The Accessibility Advisory Committee adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
