The Accessibility Advisory Committee began its meeting at 4:08 p.m. on April 25, 2007.
1 UPDATE - COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS
The Accessibility Advisory Committee advises the Community Services and Housing Committee of the following matters having been considered by the Accessibility Advisory Committee with the following action:
ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR
1. Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler was elected Chair and Diane Humeniuk was elected Vice Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee for 2007.
PRESENTATIONS
2. Cordelia Abankwa-Harris, Director, Program and Policy Support Branch, Community Services and Housing Department, "Towards Accessibility: York Region's 2007 Accessibility Plan". Received.
Staff was requested to ask the Region's Human Resources Branch to include the AAC members in the recruitment process for the sensitivity training program.
3. Irene McNeil, Manager, Service Planning, York Region Transit, and Sharon Doyle, Acting Manager, Mobility Plus, "Update Mobility Plus Application and Travel Training Program". Received.
Committee members were requested to forward any further comments on the Travel Training Program to Lisa Gonsalves.
4. Barry Crowe, Director, Property Services, Corporate Services Department, "Update on Department Initiatives". Received.
The Committee requested Property Services staff give consideration to the concerns raised and feedback provided by the AAC on the parking lot redevelopment and, due to time constraints and construction pressures, communicate alternative options to address these issues through the Chair and Vice Chair of the AAC.

5. Joann Simmons, Commissioner, Community Services, Housing and Health Services, regarding "Item for Discussion: Establishing the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee's priorities in the implementation of the Region's 2007 Accessibility Plan. Received.

7. Cindy Elder, Administrative Clerk, Leisure Services Department, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, January 24, 2007, regarding "2007 Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Accessibility Plan". Received.
OTHER BUSINESS
8. Lisa Gonsalves regarding YRAAC's endorsement of National Access Awareness Week. Received with direction that the Chair sign the letter of endorsement to Regional Council on behalf of the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
