9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7:30 a.m.)
WHERE: Sheraton Parkway Hotel
600 Highway 7 East
Town of Richmond Hill
The Gateway will bring together more than 500 participants, including IEPs looking for work in their trained profession, newcomer entrepreneurs, employers, professional associations and government for a chance to network and seek practical career advice. It will also help connect employers with talent and newcomers with opportunity.
Featuring interactive workshops and keynote speakers, the conference will help inspire newcomers to find success in York Region. Speakers include the Honourable Jean Augustine, Fairness Commissioner of Ontario, and Idris Mootee, CEO, Idea Couture. Dignitaries in attendance will include York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch, Town of Richmond Hill Mayor David Barrow and City of Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.
York Region attracts talented and highly educated immigrants from all over the world, making it one of the fastest-growing communities in Ontario. With 25 per cent of the aging workforce retiring in the next five years, newcomers and residents will help address York Region’s labour market shortage and maintain its position as an economic and innovative leader.
The Gateway is funded in part by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
