Regional employees surpass their 2012 United Way Campaign goal
The Regional Municipality of York and York Regional Police celebrated the completion of the 2012 United Way Staff Campaign by raising $422,072, exceeding its campaign goal by more than $20,000.
“York Region and York Regional Police employees continue to demonstrate their willingness to give generously to United Way York Region,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Bill Fisch. “Our goal of $400,000 seemed like a daunting challenge, but staff recognized the importance of their contribution to those in need throughout York Region.”
“The fundraising effort of The Regional Municipality of York has been exemplary,” said Daniele Zanotti, Chief Executive Officer, United Way York Region. ”Each year, York Region and York Regional Police employees look for ways to organize an energetic and inspiring campaign, one that truly impacts the lives of many individuals.”
United Way York Region assists more than 270,000 people annually to help overcome difficulties by directing donations to more than 100 community programs.
“We know our efforts are stronger when they are combined,” said Erin Mahoney, the Region’s Commissioner of Environmental Services and campaign Co-Chair. “Through the campaign, employees have been able to provide a helping hand in many areas where additional social supports are needed.”
“I would like to thank all the members of York Regional Police who participated in this year’s United Way campaign,” said Deputy Police Chief Tom Carrique. “They are truly making a difference in our community and living our motto of Deeds Speak.”
In 2011, York Region surpassed its campaign goal and raised $381,000. Since 1994, the Region has now raised more than $2.5 million for United Way York Region.
The United Way York Region continues to press towards its campaign goal of $8.26 million, which will be announced in January.
