The Regional Municipality of York announces fee increase for Georgina Waste Transfer Station

New price structure takes effect Saturday, December 1, 2012
The Regional Municipality of York is adjusting the fee structure for the Georgina Waste Transfer Station to bring charges in line with current market rates.  The fee increase will help offset increased operating costs.

Effective Saturday, December 1, 2012, a fee of $100 per tonne, with a $10 minimum, will be charged for all yard waste brought to the transfer station by both residential and business users. Residual waste (non-recyclable waste) will also be subject to the $100 per tonne, $10 minimum fee.

Household hazardous waste, electronics and blue box materials will continue to be accepted free of charge.

To minimize the impact of the fee change, residents are advised to make full use of local curbside collection programs and of recycling opportunities offered at York Region’s Community Environmental Centres and waste transfer stations.
