This conference considers the opportunities and benefits of connectivity with high speed bandwidth and what we must do to expand high speed bandwidth to all parts of York Region’s business community, particularly in northern areas.
York Region is home to major corporations such as IBM Canada, AMD, Alcatel Lucent, Apple, Avaya, Huawei, Oracle, Motorola Solutions, Redline Communications, Compugen, CGI, ADC and CA Technologies. With more than 3,500 Information & Communications Technology (ICT) companies, York Region has the highest per-capita concentration of ICT companies in Canada. In terms of the total number of ICT companies in Canada, York Region is second only to the City of Toronto.
The Town Hall is part of StartUp Canada’s national tour, a cross-Canada movement to enhance competitiveness and prosperity by supporting and inspiring entrepreneurs. The tour’s two events in York Region earlier on May 24 are a Town Hall in Markham and a York Technology Alliance leadership awards luncheon.
