Spirit of Christmas Drive helps spread holiday cheer

Annual food and toy drive helps holiday wish lists come true for those in need

 
With the holidays around the corner, The Regional Municipality of York annual Spirit of Christmas Drive is underway.  Employees at the Region are busy collecting toys, clothing and non-perishable food for local community agencies.
 
Media are invited to join paramedics from York Region Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as they deliver a portion of the gifts to Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers.

The annual Spirit of Christmas Drive was initiated by York Region EMS in 2001. The drive later expanded to include all Regional staff and approximately $3,600 was raised this year.
 
Contributions have been used to purchase food, clothing and toys from wish lists submitted to York Region on behalf of Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers, Yellow Brick House, Salvation Army Christmas Sponsorship Program and Blue Door Shelters – Youth Shelter and Leeder Place.
